Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork.  The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, boosted immunity, greater sense of peace and calmness, and improved circulation.

*Swedish Massage is often combined with other types of massage  to maximize the benefits and to provide the client with more long-term results.

Chair Massage

Chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension right in your home or workplace. You receive your massage in a specialized ergonomic chair which I bring to your location. In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, another benefit of chair massage is that it is done over the clothing. With seated massage, you can avoid the discomfort and awkwardness that you may feel in disrobing for a traditional massage.  Furthermore, chair massage sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it convenient enough to fit into your busy schedule or your budget.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy work that cleanses and balances the energy system in the body. As a result, the body's natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum health. During a session, I work directly with your energy field to remove blockages, detoxify your system, and restore your vital life force energy. I may also incorporate crystals and massage techniques as guided by my intuition. Reiki utilizes a gentle laying on of hands with the client fully clothed. The benefits of Reiki include mental  clarity, a sense of well-being,  boosted immunity response, pain relief, and stress reduction.

*This modality may be integrated with massage.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

*Although Deep Tissue does get into the deeper layers of tissue, this is not necessarily done by applying deeper pressure. Oftentimes, gentler techniques are used first so that the topmost layers soften and allow for deeper penetration. The work is slower and more specific.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied in order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

*This modality is integrated into a Deep Tissue massage.

Myofascial Massage

Myofascial massage is a technique used to treat injuries and discomfort, reducing pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial massage differs from other types of massage in that it targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself. Since fascia completely encases every muscle in the body, imbalances in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level. While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, myofascial massage focuses specifically on releasing tension in this important membrane.

Hot Stone Therapy

Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are used to massage your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.

*Pregnancy massage is offered during the second and third trimesters.

Polarity Therapy

Polarity Therapy is a type of bodywork which involves the energy fields of the body.  Similar to Reiki, the client remains fully clothed and lays on a massage table. Crystal work is also incorporated into the work to amplify the healing. Unlike Reiki, Polarity uses specific anatomical and physiological points on various energetic pathways/meridians on our bodies to connect, postive, neutral, and negatively charged forces. The intention of both is to help re-balance and improve the flow of "life force" energy in our bodies by clearing blockages.  Some of the benefits include reduced pain, improved health, peace, happiness, clarity, and a greater sense of well-being emotionally and physically.

Both Reiki and Polarity are effective therapies, and it is often a personal choice as to which one, if not both, a client prefers.

Structural Integration

Structural integration employs soft tissue manipulation with the goal of realigning the body.  The theory underlying structural integration asserts that often the body's connective tissue is "bound up," thus restricting opposing muscles from working independently of one another. Thus, we aim to loosen the restricted connective tissue by using a practice very similar to deep tissue massage.

The results of this type of therapy include long-term pain reducton, significantly improved mobility of muscles, and emotional stability and clarity--just to name a few!

*This modality will be forthcoming!!  It is currently not being offered as I am currently enrolled in training for Structural Energetic Therapy.  Certain learned techniques are already integrated, however, depending on the needs of the client.
